How To Find Your Brand Message (AMAZING STRATEGY!)
Today we're talking about your brand message and how to find it, step-by-step.
This is super important... whether you're on a twin flame mission, a light-worker trying to change the world, or a normal person who wants to make a difference and stand out in the crowd...
Your brand message determines how the world sees you!
If you don't have a cohesive brand message, you're not going to know what to say, or how to sell your product/service and you’ll waste time searching for your ideal client. You’ll end up competing with your competitors for attention.
Now I'm going to show you exactly what I do as a copywriter and brand strategist for my clients...
Step 1: Find your why...
Why are you doing this? What can you give to the world? What skills do you have that are different from other people? How does your story, how does your story relate to your client's struggles?
If you're starting your business to be wealthy, live a life of abundance and travel all the time, that's fine!
It's unselfish to to be abundant, because you're inspiring others to do the same. But you need to use that in your messaging, which is why you need to find your why statement.
Step 2: Research Your Client & Competitors
Okay… it’s research time!
Once you know your why, your that's when you start researching your competitors and ideal client. If I'm creating a website for a client, developing their brand, I spend the majority of my time doing research.
What’s your client's desires? What are your clients thinking about as they're falling asleep at night? What are they worrying about? What do they really want? What are they gossiping about?
You want to know, that they like to eat Nachos and chocolate as they're watching netflix on a Sunday night…
Imagine how powerful that would be in your branding! They’re going to feel like you know them… like you're their best friend.
Research, research, research. Also research your competitors, and find out where you can fill the gaps… where they're not meeting their clients expectations.
Step 3: Channel Your “Divine Message”
This is what I’m known for, being able to channel my clients “Divine Message”... but with practice (and trust) you can do the same!
If you don’t consider yourself as intuitive, don't worry, you don't have to do this. But if you can, it’s nice to be able to connect to your true self and figure out EXACTLY what you need to be saying to your client.
Try meditating and ask yourself “what do my clients need to hear?”
Write it all down!
Step 4: What’s Your Story?
Once you have all that, come up with two to three stories that define who they are perfectly.
Whether it's a triumph, something that you overcame or a moment that defined your existence... these are the core stories that make you who you are. These are also the stories that lets your customers relate to you!
Your clients are buying from YOU. They're not buying from a logo or a business name, they want to know who you are and why they should work with you.
Step 5: Write Your “Divine Brand Story”
This is where we combine everything you just did. Most people use this in their “About page” but it can also be used within your Main, or services page.
You start with your story... Choose of one core story that connects to your audience. People love stories… We've just been brought up in a story culture with Disney movies and love stories.
We're addicted to them!
You want to relate your story to your mission…. That's where your “Why statement” comes in. This lets you connect your story to your mission.
For example, “This is what happened to me (story), and this is why I started my business (why).
And then you're going to go into their desires…. paint this picture for them. You need to be super detailed. If you're trying to sell a wealthy lifestyle, explain to them what it's like to be in a first class airplane seat... You get to pull your seat back, you get food and champagne brought to you, etc.
Next, you bridge their desire to your solution... which is your service or your product. This is where you say “Look, I can help you (insert desire/end goal)... Book a 20 minute consultation. We'll talk about your next steps… you can book it here, etc”
This is obviously a simplified version, but once you do the research and you know who you're talking to... the copy will literally just write itself.
That's how you find your brand message :)
